This World cup season has surely taken a surprising turn. But not shocking enough when it comes to the Teams meeting at the finals. France vs Argentina is a surely a Clash we were all expecting.
Well of-course the upsets are expected in every match. But what takes the whole mood of is when your favorite player has an injury and is unavailable to play. This has been the case for a few players this world cup and Karim Benzema is no exception.
Unfortunately, the Real Madrid star had an injury shortly before the World cup begun. The French striker was ruled out after picking up a thigh injury in a training session on the eve of the tournament. He returned to Madrid to work on his recovery.
Now that France have qualified to play Lionel Messi’s squad Argentina, there have been speculations on whether or not the star will be fit to play the final.
This will probably be good news since reports from Real Madrid medical staff and officials suggest that Karim Benzema may return to France’s squad for the final clash against Argentina on December 18th.
This is merely a speculation because their coach, Didier Deschamps has refused to answer the question or confirm the rumours, while talking to FOX Sports.
“I don’t really want to answer that question,” Deschamps said following a long pause. “Next question. I do apologise.”
There are a few reasons to believe Benzema could be part of the France squad fo the final game. First, the 34-year-old has been training with the Real Madrid team since last week, without any visible fitness issues.
Also, after France’s camp been hit by an illness. Midfielder Adrien Rabiot and defender Dayot Upamecano did not train, and winger Kingsley Coman, too, is, reportedly, sick. None of them played against Morocco. Hence the spot for a new player.
“We have had a few cases of with flu-like symptoms,” Deschamps said. “We are all trying to be careful so that it doesn’t spread.”
It is likely that the coach will have to bring back Benzema, if one of his star strikers Olivier Giroud or Kylian Mbappe are unable to make the squad.
