FC Barcelona is reportedly considering the signing of Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Karim Adeyemi to either replace Ousmane Dembele or play alongside him in a trident formation, despite the club’s current financial difficulties.
According to reports, Barcelona is already planning to strengthen its squad for the next season, even though it has been warned by La Liga President Javier Tebas that it must cut its wage bill by €200 million ($212mn) and refrain from making any new signings in the summer.
Karim Adeyemi is a highly rated young striker who has been making waves in the German Bundesliga this season. He joined RB Salzburg on a loan deal in 2020 and has since scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for the club. Adeyemi is known for his speed, agility, and ability to score from a variety of positions on the field.
He has also been linked with other top European clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

If Barcelona does manage to secure the signing of Adeyemi, he could potentially replace Ousmane Dembele, whose contract with the club is set to expire in 2022. Dembele has had a mixed tenure at Barcelona, plagued with injuries and inconsistent performances. However, he has shown flashes of brilliance and has the potential to be a world-class player if he can stay fit and find consistency.
Alternatively, Adeyemi could play alongside Dembele in a trident formation, forming a formidable attacking trio with Lionel Messi. This would provide Barcelona with an abundance of attacking options and give them a chance to compete for major titles once again.
Despite the financial constraints, Barcelona is still considered one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world. They have a rich history of developing and nurturing young talent, and Adeyemi could be the next player to benefit from the club’s renowned youth system. If Barcelona manages to sign him, it could be a significant step towards rebuilding the team and restoring its former glory.
