MyNHIS App; Everything You Need to Know

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has introduced the MyNHIS mobile App similar to their already existing Mobile Renewal platform to enable Ghanaians both home and abroad to sign up to the NHIS with ease, enables members to manage their status and provides information on the list of accredited NHIS health facilities.

Initially released on November 30th, 2022, the App has recently been updated on December 12, 2023, to enhance its performance and works on both OS and Android 5.0 upwards.

Official Launch

On December 5, 2022, the Vice President of the republic of Ghana Alhaji, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia officially launched the mobile App at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale Dungu campus.

The Vice president praised the NHIS for taking advantage of the Government’s Digitalization drive to move fully into a Digitalization regime and their immense contribution to improving health care delivery in Ghana.

Where to download the MyNHIS App

Persons yet to register for National Health Insurance and already existing members can download the MyNHIS app from the app store on Google Play and IOS store. Registration can easily be done using the Ghana card.

How To Download and Install MyNHIS App.

• Visit the Play Store or Apple Store, search for MyNHIS App, click to download after after appears.
• After downloading and installation, open the App and tap on new user.
• Provide your details in the required field.
• Provide consent to the terms and conditions by ticking the agree box.
• Proceed by taping on the continue button.
• Lastly, input the OTP number sent to your device.

Information needed to access  MyNHIS dashboard

After downloading and installing the app, one can have access to the MyNHIS dashboard by imputing the following information.

1. Surname
2. First Names
3. Date of Birth
4. Your NHIS ID Number or Ghana Card Number
5. Document Number.

Steps to register NHIS with MyNHIS App.

1. Go to the create a new profile section.
2. Input information required.
3. Tap on “Next” to proceed.
4.  Choose NHIS office close to your area.
5. Proceed to verify.
6. Preview and navigate to done. Go through to check for mistakes and tap on done if information provided is correct.
7. Now go back to the home page and tap on link cards.
8.  Input your NHIS member number and proceed to next.
9. A congratulatory message will pop up confirming your Ghana card and NHIS membership linkage.

How to Renew NHIS using the MyNHIS app.

1.Go to your to the dashboard after logging in and tap on renew.

2. Tap on next to move to the next page.

3. Tap on renew for myself at the Membership renewal page.

Since its establishment in 2003, the NHIS has become one of the main social intervention programs in Ghana, providing financial assistance for people to access quality health care in Ghana.
