Gyakie, originally known as Jacqueline Acheampong (born 16 December 1998) is a popularly known musician in the Ghana entertainment and music industry.

She is a 24-year-old fast-rising Ghanaian singer and songwriter whose genre of music is Afro-fusion. She came to the limelight after dropping the hit single, Never Like This.

Early Life

Gyakie was born in Bompso town in Kumasi in 1998. She originally hails from Abuakwa, another town in Kumasi.

She is the daughter of Ghanaian music legend, Ernest Owoahene Nana Acheampong. Her father was a member of the popular band, Lumba Brothers.

From an early age, Gyakie had shown signs that she would take after her father as a musician. Because she had a very sonorous voice while growing up.

She was an active member of her church’s choir and served as of its lead vocalists.


Gyakie completed her primary school education in Kumasi.

She studied at TI Amass for her secondary school education and obtained her West African School Certificate from the institution.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology.

Career & Achievements


Gyakie burst onto the music scene in 2019 and has since made a name for herself in the industry. With her debut single, "Love Is Pretty," she captivated audiences and garnered attention from local radio and TV stations.

In August 2020, she released her debut EP titled "SEED," which showcased her versatility and experimentation with different sounds. Collaborating with renowned artists such as Bisa Kdei, Elom 'E.L' Adablah, and Kuvie, Gyakie continued to make waves in the music scene.

Her hit single, "Never Like This," propelled her to national stardom. Over the past three years, she has graced the stages of major shows in Ghana, including Rapperholic, Tidal Rave amongst others.

Starting out, Gyakie was once a guest on BBC’s ”Focus On Africa”, featured on Red Bull South Africa and Nigeria’s One Tribe magazine made it on Kuulpeeps’ ”2020 EMERGERS” list, and earned a nomination in the 2020 VGMA ”Unsung Artist”.

Nominations and Awards

  • 2019: She won Muse Africa Alternative song of the 2nd quarter.
  • 2020: She was nominated for the unsung artist category at the VGMA.
  • 2021: She was nominated for three categories at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with her song titled “Herself” being nominated for Best New Artist, “Forever” getting a nomination in the category of Best Afrobeat/ Afro pop song of the year and her album titled “seed” getting her a nomination in the EP of the year.

Currently managed by Flip The Music Entertainment outfit, Gyakie's talent has also caught the attention of international publications like Nigeria's One Tribe Magazine and Red Bull South Africa.

With a combined eleven million streams on various music platforms, Gyakie's EP has solidified her position as a rising star in the music industry.
